H-- retires from tbv Power Board on Monday. Obituary. The death of Mr H?nry Header;:-, of Rewanui, took place to-day at the Grey Hospital. Deceased was a native of Cumberland (Eng.), and was one of the early resident* of Bunanga, removing to Bewanui later. He was 65 years of age. He leave* a sister and brother. Advice was received yesterday of the death at Wellington of Mr John Calvin Craig, a well-known Reefton resident. Deceased resided in the early days at Black's Point, and later at Beef ton. Bome twenty-five years ago, with his family, he removed to Wellington. He was 93 years of age. and a native of New Brunswick. Canada, Weddings. The wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church, Blackball, yesterday, of Miss H- Openshaw, to Mr B. Anderson. The Bev. Jaa, Battray, of Totara Flat, officiated. Mr Arnold Openshaw, the bride's brother, acted as groomsman, while Miss M. Anderson, the bridegroom's sister, was bridesmaid. The wedding took place last evening, at St. John's Presbyterian Church, Greymonth, of Jean, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Unwin, of Bmianga, to Mr William Freeman, of Bunanga, formerly of Dunedin. The Bev. T. X. Cattle officiated. The bride wore a frock of rose Celane&e with bat to tone. She was attended by Miss Myrtle Manderson, who wore a frock of beige georgette with a pale green hat. Mr John Fnwin was beat man. A reception was held later at Bunanga. Isaagahna County Council. The monthly meeting of the Inangahua County Council was held at Beefion yesterday, Mr J. B. Aald presiding. The offer of the Public Works Department to take over a portion of the Maruia road from Craig's onwards was accepted, the ehairmaa to arrange details. The Boyal Hnmane Society forwarded a letter of commendation for Sydney Beid, and asked that arrangements be made for a public presentation. The matter was left in the hands of the chairnan* Marooned by Earthquake. The road from Inangahna Junction to Lyell has been sufficiently repaired to allow Gibbs's service ear, marooned on it sine* June 17th, to be got oat yesterday. The machine is little the worseOtira Tunnel. The total amount of coal, timber, and general merchandise transported through the Otira tunnel for this week was 13,021 tons, an increase of 1882 tons compared with the amount dealt with in the corresponding period in 1925, and of 2384 tons compared with the tonnage for the similar period in 1927. Vagrancy. Arthur Sinclair, aged 44, appeared before Mr M. J. Fogarty, J-P-, to-day, and pleaded guilty to a charge of vagrancy. He was sentenced to a month's imprisonment, the police stating that Sinclair came from Christehureb about a month ago. Winter Show. A meeting of representatives of local bodies and industries was held in the Westland County Chambers this afternoon, having been convened by the Westland branch of the Canterbury Progress League, to diseuss ways and means of organising a Westland Bay for the next Winter Show in Chfistehureo. Dr. Teicfaelmann (president of the local bn eh) presided, and explained the objeet of the gathering, and said the Wi-ter Show Committee assisted financially to the extent of £7O and provided free space. Mr D. J- Evans outlined the conditions of the Exhibition and the prizes given. He considered it an opportunity that should not be missed to advertise Westland. Mr B. Ward, chairman of the Westland County Council, heartily supported the proposal, and instaneed many produets that could be exhibited. Mr J. Murdoch, of Boss, representing the honey producers, referred to Westland as being a land flowing with niiik and honey. The Boss lime was the best in New Zealand for agricultural purposes. Mr T. W. Bruce and Messrs W. A. Jamieson (president of the KokatahiKoiterangi Winter Show Committee) also spoke. Mr J. J. Melntosh, representing South Westland, endorsed the suggestion. A motion was passed to the effect that a committee consisting of the executive of the Westland branch of the Canterbury Progress League, the executive of the Kokatahi-Koiterangi Winter Show Committee, Mr Murdoch and Mr Peebles (Town Clerk of Boss), with power to add to their nnmber, be set up to organise the Westland Bay. It was also resolved that the committee hold a meeting at Arahura to enlist the interest of the farmers there, and also at Kokatahi and if neeessary, at Harihari,
