LYTTELTON STREETS.

TO TKB BDITOB OV THE PRESS Sir, —Permit me through the medium of your columns to draw the attention of the peaple of Lyttelton to the dirty state of the gutters in the business area of the town. Some are an absolute eyesore, especially those in Canterbury street, which require to be reconstructed, to bring them up-to-date. A little water occasionally would also do no harm. The dust nuisance, bo prevalent in Oxfo-d and Canterbury streets, would likewise be alleviated, if some were laid down in bitumen, which would improve the appearance of the town, and the health of the people generally.—Yours, etc., ALFRED LAURENCE O'CONNOR. September 26th. 1929.
