ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. The annual dancing and piping l competitions of the Canterbury Caledonian Society were commenced last evening Keen competition id all events added to the even ing'a enjoyment. The judges were Mrs L. C McLachUn (dancing), and Messrs J. Erskine and A. Mclntyre (piping). Results: Highland Fling, under 12 years, for those not eligible tc compete in 1929 Highland rung classes —Mary Huston 1, Clarice Nitty Seann Triuohais, under 13 Year.-, for those not eligible to compete in IM9 Seann Tnubhais classes—Betty C»rnochan 1, Joyce Saw tell 2. A public meeting presided over by the Deputy Mayor (Mr Entrieai.'i re solved to form an Auckland Division of the New Zealand Branch of the British Cancer Campaign Society, and appointed a committee to consider rules and report to a later meeting.
