ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. The annual dancing and piping l competitions of the Canterbury Caledonian Society were commenced last evening Keen competition id all events added to the even ing'a enjoyment. The judges were Mrs L. C McLachUn (dancing), and Messrs J. Erskine and A. Mclntyre (piping). A public meeting presided over by the Deputy Mayor (Mr Entrieai.'i re solved to form an Auckland Division of the New Zealand Branch of the British Cancer Campaign Society, and appointed a committee to consider rules and report to a later meeting. When it was suggested that the rules submitted by the central committer should be adopted, Dr. Gunson and Mr Wallace, chairman o# the Hospital Board, objected, contending that some of the funds should be earmarked for local purposes, the equipment at -the hospital low being totally inadequate, j
