! v rsost oris owsr ecßHseroycEM '. LONDON, August 23. Sir Harold, Leauehamp (Wellington i spent three weeks at Vichy, the famous holiday resort in France, and then a fortnight at Bognor. He is now engaged in business at the Bank of New Zealand. He will leave for home by tlio Retnurra on August 30th. Mr A. M. Acton-Adams arrived recently by the Corinthic, and is spending a fortnight in London before joining the Royal Air Force at Cranwell as a flight cadet. Mr D. F. Dennehy (Christchureh) is a recent arrival in London, after having spent sixteen months in the United States and Canada on a business mission. He was in New York tor the greater pf.rt of the time, and while there one of the interesting events was the Presidential Election campaign. Mr Dennehy will travel ; 0 Paris by air this week, and on his return will visit relatives at Killarnev He expects to sail for New Zealand, via Vancouver, at the end of October. Gentlemen Cadets R. C. Quercc and F L. Davis have both passed their final examinations at Sandhurst. Cadet Queree was 26th and Cadet Davis was 37tli out of about 170 candidates. They will be commissioned as from August 2Sth as Second Lieutenants in the New Zealand Staff Corps, but before returning to the Dominion they will undergo a year's training in units of the Aldershot Command. Mr P. Ti. Davies and Mr E. W. Edwards (Christchureh) attended the great Eisteddfod at Liverpool early this month and listened to the ladies' choir, also to the chief choral competition, and they consider that the music they heard tvas worthv of the journey from New Zealand. One afternoon Mr Lloyd George and other prominent people gave a welcome to overseas visitors. Mr Edwards nnd Mr Davies appeared to be the only New Zealanders present; at any rate, they were the only two who answered a welcome on behalf of the Dominion Thev both express the opinion that the singing and music in Wales have achieved a. very high standard. Thf» travellers have already motored a good deal in Great Britain, and they intend making a Continental tour before leaving for America in Septemlier. Mr A. T. Orchard, R.A.F. (Seddon), joined the Royal Air Force last January on a short service commission. He has since been at No. 2 Flying Training School at Digby. Lines., undergoing instruction, and at the end of the year he hopes to be posted to a twin-engined bomber 6quadron. He has been a member of the rifle team representing the Digby Station at B.sley, both at the R.A.F. and R.A.N, rifle meetings this year. Before coming to England Mr Orchard held a commission as lieutenant in the Nel-son-Marlborough Mounted Rifle Regiment. He hopes to return to New Zealand at the completion _of his five years' service, and to go in for civil aviation in the Dominion. Mr P. Thomson (Nelson), who is on a tour of business and pleasure combined, has been visiting the industrial centres of Enxrland, Scotland, Holland, France, and Germany, and he reports having had a four. 'Mr Thomson 'will visit relatives in Yorkshire and the North of England, and he wil| leave .on September 6th for Montreal on his way to Vancouver to join the Niagara on October 7th.
