The ground was greasy and the weather showery, and good football was impossible. ASSOCIATION. ENGLISH CUP SEMI-FINAL. | Tha semi-final of the English Cup between Western and Thistle will be played at English Park to-morrow afternoon, when a bright and evenly-contested game is certain to result. Western are right out to defeat Thistle, the Hurley Shield winners, and with English Park in good order the conditions will suit the fast, light Western team, who had bad luck in previously meeting their rivals on a very heavy groand. The cleverness of the Thistle players is well recognised, and they can be relied upon to play attractively. Both sides will be at full strength, and while Thistle will probably be favourites, they will have no easy task to keep Western in check. A first-class junior j game between Y.M.C.A. and Nomads will be played at 1.30 p.m. as a curtain-raiser. ENGLAND BEATS IRELAND. (tTXITKD PRESS ASSOCIATION—BT BLBCTBTO TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT.) MOTOR-BOATING. — OUTBOARD CLUB MEETS. The first annual general meeting of the Canterbury Outboard Motor Club was held last evening, when tha commodore (Mr T. T. Gough) presided. There was an attendance of 12 members. . The annual report stated that during the year the club's activities had done much to popularise outboard motor-boating as a sport. Thirty-seven races had been run by the club during the year, and the prizes were well distributed. The club had started with a membership of 14, and it now had a membership of 72. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £l4 Is 6d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The chairman said that the coming year was going to be a big one for the club, and although there was a balance in hand of £l4 Is 6d, he considered that not big enough to run the club for the coming season and show a further credit. It would be probably necessary to raise the subscriptions for membership in order to eas& the position. The rlub should appreciate the handsome donations made and the help given by ardent supporters of the club. However, lie concluded. for a young clnb it was in a very sound condition. The election of officers resulted aa follows:—President. Mr A. Morten; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. H. Nicholson and C. _H. Clibborn; commodore, Mr R. J. Scott; vicecommodore, Mr A. A. McLean; rear-commo-dore, Mr G. W. Lamb; committee, Messrs T. T. Gough. R. Williams, E. Preece. R. Watson, J. Simpson, G. Blogg; secretary and treasurer. Mr W. J. McGibbon; honorary auditor, Mr I. Wilson. It was decided that outboard engines be classed for ttye coming season for races held by the clnb at the game class rating a* they would be if racing in England. A letter was received from the Canterbury Sailing and Power Boat Association stating that the annual meeting of that Association would be held on October 3rd. The commodore and secretary were appointed as delegates to that meeting. It was resolved to have a working bee at the club's headquarters at Redcliffs, with the ob.iect of improving facilities for tending, and clearing obstructions from the channel. A motion that the subscriptions be raised from 10s to £1 was lost because the voting did not show the required two-thirds majority. It was decided that the club's opening day be held on October 19th.
