BOROUGH COUNCIL.
KAIAPOI. The fortnightly meeting of the Kaiapei Borough Council was held on Tuesday. Present —The Mayor (Rev. W. H. A. Viekery), Cm. A. S. Brown. E. J. PollsTd, F. Thoraa. H. Mcintosh. A. liiaklstsr. H. BtfiaMi. A. Greenwood, M. Ramsay, and J D. Williams. The Municipal Association wrote advising that the next conference would he held atTJivercargill on March sth, 1930. The Town Clerk. Mr C. F. Woodhead wrote asking if the Conncil would grant a lease for two years of the rooms occnpied by him ta the municipal buildings. The lease waa panted. The Eyre County Council wrote asking if the Council would pay half the east of ersetioa aad maintenance .of a. street light •t the east and of Oaofca read. It was decided ta reply that the Council waa not prepared to 4a anything in the matter.
Messrs Helmere, van Asch. and Waltoa wrota enclosing copies af the agreement between the borough saw the North Canterbury Electric Power Board for execution by the Council. It was decided that the agreement be esmpletea. ■ The Prime Minister wrote with reference to deferring the permaaont saving of the mala read through the boroagh, and sdvlses) that the matter was entirely me to bo dealt with by the Highways Boars Mr C. Mr J. C. He would appreciate action takes by the Osuneil to as* that unregistered dogs wars destroyed. It wss decided that a ranger be appointed to deal with ths 'natter.
