A letter was received from the Christchurch Fruit Brokers' Association advising that on and after October Ist next all fruit and produce purchased in auction rooms was to be paid for on day of sale, A good deal of discussion took place, and while there were several supporters of the proposed scheme, the general opinion was that the system could not be worked to advantage, and the following resolution was passed: "That this Association is not in favour of the cash system unless the country business is brought into line and requested to pay on receipt of invoice." The matter of payment to growers for cas»s containing 'ruit, tomatoes, and vegetables came forward for discussion. After a long discussion the following resolu tion was carried: '"'That the Growers' AsaocUtion and auctioneers he notified that the fruiterers of Christchurch will not pay for cases containing fruit tomatoes, or vegetables oa and after Monday, October 21st next."
