CANTERBURY CBNTHE MEET*.
The North Cknterbury CeaU* «f ih» K«w Zealand Athletic and Cycling tTnlon mat last evening. Those present were: Messrs W. J. Wa,lt*r (chftinaftp). f. P. O'Banrks, R. McClelland, G. Henderson, P. C. Crooks, J. M. Coffey, S. B. Kershaw, 3. Pitspatrick, G. E. Fergus, W. A. Kelchsr, P. Powsr, W. Scott, snd P. C. Lncaa (««entafy). The Oxford Sports Association wrote asking for psrmissioa to hold a meeting An Soxing Day, and also to hold the one mile Canterbury cycling championship and ths I«V> inch Canterbury standing chop championship. The permission was granted. The South Canterbury Caledonian Boci»ty forwarded a donation of *5, on the condition that it be given as * price for the rider from between the Hangltst* and WaiUki rivers, securing the fastest time in the Timaru to Christehurch road race. The letter also pointed out that other dubs are catering for their own riders, and it was the feeling of this Society that all donations i» the future should go to the general prise fund. The chairman (Mr W. 3. Walter) said that the Society evidently forgot that meat of the competitors came from Christehueh and that about 4100 was spent by the competitors in attending Timaru. It was decided to thank the Sooiety for its donation. It was notified that Mr A. N. Ralston had been appointed by the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Onion as its representative for the Timaru to Christehurch road race. The Christehurch City Council wrote that it would close part of Lincoln road on the dav of the race. The Cuat Sports Association was granted permission to hold the one and a half mils Canterbury cycling championship, to be hold on December Plst. The secretary reported that *o f*T W entries for the big road race had been received, IS leas than last year. The date for further entries was extended to September 29th.
