ROYAL CHRISTCHURCH MUSICAL SOCIETY.

Sir Arthur Sullivan's "Golden Legend" will form the programme of the second concert of the season of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society, to be given to-morrow Eight in the Municipal Concert Hall. The words are taken from. Longfellow's poem, and i*> his notes on the poem he says: "I have called this poem the Golden Legend because the story upon which it is founded seems to me to surpass all other legends in beauty and significance. It exhibits, amid the corruptions of the Middle Ages, the virtues of disinterestedness and self-sacrifice, and the power of Faith, Hope, and Charity, sufficient for all the exigencies of life and death." The work will be performed by a full chorus and orchestra, and the soloists engaged will do full justice to 'their respective parts They are Madame Aiyce Harley, Mies Dulcie Mitchell, Mr J. Wyatt Hadland, and Mr Chan. Clarkson. The box plan is now open at The Bristol Piano Company.
