\ very pleasant week-end trip to Alford Forest and Mt. Winterslow was made bv 17 members of the Canterbury Mountaineering and Transport Club Weather conditions were ideal, the absence of wind on the mountain preventing any thoughts of coldness. The snow was in good condition and most members enjoyed a glorious glissade down the upper slopes. Mt. Cook and all the surrounding peaks were visible, the atmosphere being perfectly clear. The party slept the night in the open on the Rakaia Gorge Island.
