CANTERBURY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
Ths North Canterbury Flour-Milling Company, Cust, have notified the Canterbury Horticultural Society that they desire to giv» a silver cup towards the encouragement of tha factory garden and the beautification of the grounds around factories, warehouses, They have requested the Canterbury Horticultural Society to frame conditions for the competition and impose only one them■•lves, vix., that the territory in which the competition will be held is to be confined to that portion of Canterbury between the Rakaia and Horunui rivers. Arrangements have been made for Mr Guy Wilson, the eminent British raiser o! daffodils, to address the members of the Canterbury Horticultural Society and their friends this evening, at 8 o'clock, at the Canterbury Automobile Association rooms. Worcester street. Mr Wilson will take for his subject "The Daffodil at Home and in New Zealand/' Mr Wilson will arrive in ChristcliuTch this morning, and will be met by officials of the Society. He is one of the donors of tha British Kaisers' Cup, which is now on view in the window of Feteisens, Ltd.. sad will be competed for to-morrow at the Canterbury Horticultural Society's Spring show. Mt L. B. Hart has given a challenge cup for oompetition among the railway gardens in Canterbury. This has been allotted to the competition recently arranged by the Railway Traffic Department and the Canterbury Horticultural Society, and will be held for one year by the winning station garden.
