The John is bar-bound at Waikato, and will not be here before to-morrow. She loads for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. Tliis week will be a quiet one so far as shipping is concerned, only a few coastal vessels being due until the latter part of the W< The Cvgnet was to sail from Wellington at midnight* last night for Kaikoura and Wellington, and is due here to-morrow morning. She is to be dispatched on the return trip to-morrow night. The Himatungi is to be dispatched this afternoon with cargo for Wellington, Wanganui, and Foxton. The Canadian Challenger is to sail to-day for Timaru and Dunedin to complete discharge of her East Canadian cargo, and to load. The Breeze is to load here to-day for Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru. The Maui Pomare is to sail from Auckland to-morrow for Apia and Niue to load for Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. The Port Victor was due at Wellington yesterday from Auckland, with New York cargo. She is due at Lyttelton about next Thursday. The Progress is an expected arrival tomorrow from Timaru. She loads for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Holmdale should be here on Wednesday from the south to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Totara is expected at Lyttelton on Thursday from Tarakohe with cement. On completion of discharge she will load for New Plymouth, and sails via Wellington. The Wingatui sailed on Saturday for Dunedin, and should be back about Wednesday to load for Auckland. The Corinna is to load at Lyttelton tomorrow for Nelson and New Plymouth. She sails from this port via Wellington. The Manuka is due here on Wednesday from Melbourne, via Wellington, and sails in the afternoon for Dunedin and Bluff, en routs for Melbourne. The Karetu is now due here on October 3rd from Sydney. She sails later for Dunedin, Bluff, and Sydney. The Foxton should arrive during to-night from Foxton. She will go on the £lip tomorrow morning to have a new propeller fitted, and loads in the afternoon for Foxton. The Kahika completes loading here to-day for Napier and Gisborne. | Mr P. Morrison has joined the Kaitoke as | chief, engineer in place of Mr A. S. Ewan, who is ashore sick, it Mr N. J. McMurrich bas rejoined the Wairuna as chief engineer. Mr H. Stewart has joined the Wahine as third engineer in place of Mr G. Watt who i is aahore sick. : Mr J. D. Hamilton, fourth engineer of the Marama, has gone on holiday leave. The Poolta, with cargo from Clarence River, Port Stephens, and Newcastle, arrived at Auckland on Friday morning. She later will proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Bluff to complete discharge. A tender has been accepted for repairs to ! the steamer Pareora, which has been idle at 1 Melbourne since July 25th. The Pareora discharged 10,000 tons of ore in Hobson'a I Bay owing to the development of a leak in a forward hold. News has been received by the. Shaw, SaviH, and Albion Company that their liner Tairoa left Balboa on Tuesday evening for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, cn route from London. The vessel is due at Auckland on October 10th. j According to a message received by the Canadian National Steamships, the Canadian I Explorer left Panama on September 15th for Auckland, Wellington and southern ports, en route from Montreal. The vessel is due at Auckland about October 7th. The P. and O. liner Chitral, due at Sydney on Friday last from London, had the following passengers for New Zealand:—Mr and Mrs Bromily, Mr and Mrs Smith, Mr and Mrs Haake, Mr Robertson, Mr Tweed, Mrs Marsack, Mrs Ellis, Miss Hills, Mr Jones, Mr Gfeig, Mr Hughes.
