SUGGESTED VISIT OF M.P.'S. t'KES# A3SOCXATIOJI TELSGRAV.) WESTPORT, September 17. The hope is expressed here that a Parliamentary week-end excursion will be arranged to enable members of Par liament to see the great .earth and rock movements in the vicinity of Lyell. A boat leaving Wellington on Saturday mornino would reach West port on Suntlav and members could then go on by car to the big slip at Arnold's, travelling the rest of the way on foot to Lvell. or going one and a half miles further to the great slip. Unless one has seen tbese great earth movements for himself, he cannot realise the tremendous force be. hind the earthquake of June I7th last. The excursion would enable members r>f Parliament to appreciate the task fhe Government has in restoring the ro"ds to their former condition.
