CHRISTCHURCH STOCK EXCHANGE.

There was a fair turnover of stocks on call yesterday. The outstanding feature was the hardening of New Zealand Breweries, bonds and shares. Hie turnover exclusive of vestibule business included:— £3OO Grey Electric per oent., 1966 £I7OO N.Z. Breweries, Bonds. 100 Commercial Bank of Australia. 20 Union Bank of Australia. 400 N.Z. Refrigerating Co. (10s pd.). 600 New Zealand Breweries. 900 Staples Brewery. 700 Mahakipawa Goldfields. Government issues were firm at late rates. A parcel of Grey Electric, 5J per oent. 1965 debentures changed aands at par. New Zealand Breweries (bonds) rose sharply to dealings at 30s tjd and 30s 3d, market closing 30s 6d buyers, 30s 9d sellers. Australian Bank of Commerce shares showed an easing tendency with sellers at 36s 9d no buyers. Commercial Bank of Australia shares were unaltered at 90b Id, and there were further sellers at that figure, buyers at 30s. A late sale of National Bank of Australasia £5 paid shares was reported on 14th instant at £9 13s 6d, market closing easier with sellers at £9 13s, buyers at £9 lis 6d. Union Bank of Australia shares were released at £ls Is 6d, closing quotations £ls 0s 6d buyers, £ls 2s sellers. N.Z. Refrigerating Co. 10s paid shares were firm with sellers and business at 6s 9d, buyers at 6s Bd. New Zealand Breweries Bhares advanced to 91s, market closing 91s sellers, 90s 6d buyers. Staples Brewery shares eased to 52s and 52s 3d, and more were wanted at 52s 3d, sellers at 52s 6d. Queensland Brewesry shares claimed (inner buyers at 33s 3d, but sellers wanted 35s N.Z. Farmers' Co-op. "A" and "B" preference shares had improved demand, but there was a wide margin between buyers and sellers' quotes.
