METHODS OF POLICE QUESTIONED.
INVESTIGATION IN HOLLAND. (TTHttw> Mtess association—bt BtucTßio TSLtOSAFH—COWtIQHT.) (Eeceived September 15th, 7.5 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, September 15. Two labourers named Kliden and Theunissen have just been released after serving four of a 15 years' sentence for the murder of a level-cross* lag watchman near Diesse-Nlttwerk, who was believed to have been killed by a blow from a hammer, the motive presumably being robbery. The men were convicted mainly on the evidence of a married couple with whom they spent the night on which the body was found. The couple have now remorsefully confessed that their evidence was given under police pressure and threats of imprisonment. The wife's written statement discloses unfair police methods. The Advocate-Oeneral is conducting a rigorous investigation.—-Australian Press Association.
