MR ARCHER AND RUSSIA.

TO THE EDITOH Or THE PBEBS Sir,—Mr Archer in his remarks at the cut-over function on Saturday night said that, "from the point of view of government he would ten times rather be a citizen of Russia than, of Italy." Russia (or Red Russia)' is an unknown quantity to most people, but according to cable and newspaper reports it "has conquered by the sword" and "banned religion." Therefore Mr Archer would be out of a job there. However, I suggest that, if Mr . Archer knows more than the newspapers have given the public, he give a lecture on Russia and hand the proceeds to the earthquake fund.—Yours, etc., s BRITISH. September 16th, 1929.
