PARIS, September 13.
Suspicions were aroused at Lille as to the contents of an unclaimed trunk at the railway station. An investigation led to the discovery of a man's bound-up body and skull in the trunk. In one of the pockets of his suit was a letter signed: "Rigaudin, Paris." The police found that Eigaudin's mother-in-law was murdered four months ago. The murder of Bigaudin is turning out to be a first-class mystery. It is known that he was a leading anarchist, engaged in espionage, and it is believed that he incurred the enmity of his gang. There were several mysterious foreign callers, including a woman, at his home after his disappearance, and the police found his bedroom had been ransacked.
It transpires that his murdered mother-in-law was tbo housekeeper to Almereyda, the leader of the notorious war-time "Bonnet Rouge" plot. She was suspected of his betrayal, it is unknown even now whether Almereyda committed suicide or was murdered after his arrest. Bigaudin declared that he would devote his life to running down his mother's murderer.—Australian Press Association.
