magisterial. MONDAY. (Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.) MAINTENANCE CASES. For disobedience of a maintenance order Ernest Hamill was convicted and sentenced to one month s imprisonment, the issue of the warrant to be suspended provided the arrears are paid off at the rate of 5s a week in addition to current maintenance. ' Elsie Violet Cos proceeded against Thomas John Cox for a maintenance order. The order was granted for £2 a week and rast maintenance £lO. A maintenance order for 10s a week in respect of a destitute relative was mads against John Henry Fox. For disobeying a maintenance order James Felix Murch convicted and sentenced to one month's imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended provided arrears are paid off at the rate of £2 a month, in addition to the current order. An affiliation order was made against Thomas Swarbrick. (Before Mr E. C. T.evvey, S.M.) TRAFFIC CASES. For driving a motor-cycle without a license, Lester C. Sheppard was fined 20s and costs. H. E. Sanders was convicted and discharged for riding a bicycle without both hands being on the handlebars. For having no driving licenses, A. S. Cooksley 3nd H. F. Wait, who made voluntary appearances, were each fined 10s. WAIMAIRI COUNTY CASES. John Davis McCracken was fined £5 d costs for driving at an excessive speed. Percy Nelson Eden was charged with feeding swine with offal which had not first been boiled. He was fined 20s and costs. Charles Frederick Pryke (Mr Amodeo) was charged with a breach of the piumuing and drainage regulations. Pryke had given a plumber orders to install a bath in a house which he had purchased, and it was alleged that the work had not been done properly. He was ordered to pay costs. A charge against the plumber, George Frederick Straw, was adjourned. For using an unlicensed motor-car, William Downing was fined 10s and costs. Peter Stewart was ordered to pay costs on a charge that, being the owner of a motor vehicle in respect of which an offence had been committed, he failed to give information that would lead to the identification of the driver.
