KENTUCKY JUBILEE SINGERS.

AT THE CIVIC THEATRE. The (Irn concrrt of the Ktiumij Jubilee linger* vtaa given «' tho Civic Theatre on Saturday evening. and wrts an unqualified t '.)• • cess. No lover of vocal music-—indeed, lover of any kind of mime at all —can afford to mim ilit; wonderful programme which is presented by this gr.n, |. of coloured sitigcr.-. The tir.«i part. ot tho entertainment was called "On a Plantation," and consisted of a mtihk of songs und dances in an appropriate nottirig. It U quite impossible to describe this ant; there were onion and clioruson, tome accompanied and tone unaccompanied, but every item was excellent. Individual opinions wonld vary considerably, but it teems probable that "(to Down Moiii-i,'' in which the solo was taken by William Veasoy, was the most »ttr*rt.iv«. This would be closely fotlowed by "Deep Kiver." "Eiekiel," and "Scandalise My Name." One number, " Cradle in Caroline," is probably the one most enjoyed by the company themselves, and the harmony is more complicated thnn that of the rest. The arrangement* of tho various songs and choruses are the work of the singers themselves, except one chorus, "Gom" Home," which was arranged by W. A. Fisher, from the New World Symphony by Dvorak. The sce-ord part of the programme is a war scene laid in a dug-out, aud is entitled "The Road Home.' - It was written by Forbes Randolph, the company's versatile entrepreneur. In this act the lingers confirm the growing suspicion that they are, in addition, actors of •. high order. Two wonderful numbers in this act were "Georgia" and "Don't. Clone Dat Gate," in the last of which J. Arthur Gaines was found to h*va an excellent voice, in addition to his extraordinory powers of showmanship.
