♦ EXCITEMENT IN PARIS. POLICE RAID NEWSPAPER OFFICE. (nrma mus associat-iost—bt elsctxic TEI-iaaAPH —COPriIOHT., (Received July 28th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 37. It is reported that Paris is aflame with excitement in consequence of the Communists' determined efforts to frustrate the Government's resolve to prevent disturbances on August Ist. A wire which connected the Prefecture of Police and military headquarters with six barracks ot the Republican Guards has been cut, with the object of paralysing a forceful stoppage of demonstrations. The police are redoubling their vigilance. They raided the offices of the Communist newspaper, "Avant Garde," and seized thousands of copies which were said to contain incitements to revolt. —United Service. SOVIET PROPAGANDA ON SHIP. (Received July 28th, 5.5 p.m.> LONDON, July 27. "The Times" reports that a firm of London shipowners received a copy of a Soviet manifesto, which was distributed to the crew of one of its ships, commanding a general stoppage on August Ist, and denouncing the Prime Minister, Mr Mac Donald, aa a friend of the King, who is the "champion of British Imperialism."—"The Times" Cables.
