Louis Bleriot, who first flew the English Channel in 1909, made a commemorative flight from be Bourget to Dover in the latest Bleriot monoplane. He was accompanied by two navigators and a pilot. , Eleven Roval Air Force aeroplanes met the Frenchmen near the cliff 3 of Dover and escorted them to Swingate Aerodromp, where crowds wildly cheered Bleriot'* beautiful landing. Tlie Mayor, the French Consul, and Sir Sefton Branckner welcomed the fliers in the meadow where Bleriot first landed, after making the flight in 37 minutes, compared with to-day's 15 minutes. Bleriot said that with eight refuelling stations in the Atlantic, aeroplanes would proceed from London to America in 1949 as easily as they fly from London to Paris to-day.—Austra-lian Press Association.
