FOUND DROWNED.

EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. An enquiry into the death of George William Rolfe, 65 years of age, a sailmaker, who resided at 32 Longfellow street, Sydenham, and who was found drowned in the Avon river on Thursday evening, was opened before the Coroner (Mr E. C. Levvey) on Saturday morning. Sergeant Leckic represented ihe police. , , , ~ \fter evidence had been heard, the Coroner adjourned the enquiry sine die, in order that a post-mortem examination might be made., Margaret Rolfe, widow of tho deceased, gave evidenco that her husband left home on Thursday at about G55 a.m. Ho was in his usual health, but had recently complained of giddiness for which, however he had not been attended by a doctor. He had had no financial worries, as witness bad charge of the money matters of the household. So far as witness knew, he had never expressed the intention cf taking his own life Formal evidence of identification was given by Arthur James Price, of 563 Cashel street. Alfred Edward Piddoc-k. a foreman at the Addington workshops, said Rolfe had been employed at the workshops. He had always appeared to be in good health. On Thursday, he was working as usual. Rolfe had signified his intention of going to see a Mr Grant in the evening, for whom he had drawn a sick pay certificate. Rolfe was anxious to return a similar favour done him by Grant some time ago. Joseph Grout, a workshops employee, raiding at 4 Avon street, said Rolfe had not he-en at his residence on Thursday, and he did not know that he had "made arrangements to bring > him a sick par certificate. Witness know that Rolfe had complained of pains in the head. Constable G. F. Molloy gave evidence concerning the recovery of the ' tody from the Avon. There were no signs of violence on the body.
