EDUCATION BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Education Board was held yesterday and was attended by Messrs W. H. Winsor (chairman), W. A. Banks, C. S. Thompson, E. H. Andrews, E. Wild, G. W. Armitage, W. P. Spencer, H. J. Bignell, and J. G. Gow. Special Classes. A communication from the Education Department stated that (1) the Department approved of the discontinuance of the class at Waimairi and the establishment of a second class at the Normal School; (2) the Department approved of the ejection of two temporary rooms at the East Christehurch School; (3) the Department suggested V. \t the establ'shment of classes at the Waltham and North Brighton Schools be postponed; (4) the Department sugr —ted that a special class be established at Timaru. It was reported that there was no suitable room available, and it was resolved to apply for a grant for the erection of a detached room at the Timaru Main School. Appointments and Resignations. The following appointments were made: —Addington: Miss L. H. Dickinson, assistant mistress; Awaroa: Mr W. J. Edwards, sole teacher; Blackball: Mrs L. Askenbeck, infant mistress; Bromley: Miss G. Harper, second assistant; Mackenzie: Miss A. Y Eobertson, assistant mistress; Oaro: Mrs E. S. McArthur, sole teacher; Pareora West: Miss I. T. Currie, head teacher; Phillipstown: Miss E. A. Nankivell, assistant (transfer): Eangiora: Mr G. F. Eobinson, assistant maste', Eoa: Miss D. M. Glasson, sole teacher; Ruapuna: Mrs J. Thompson, sole teacher; Timaru South: Mr E. E.
