BURWOOD NOTES.
w At the monthly meeting of the Burwood Progressive Association the following were present: —Messrs W. R. Burnett (chairman), 8. Smith, F. Cuaaek, J. Wethera!], J. Liggins, H. Paterson, K. J. Ecroyd. J. Menzies, J. Peters, G. • Lewis, and J. Cowan. Mr Liggins reported favourably on the work that had been undertaken on Burwood Park, with a view to preparing immediately one playing area. Mr 11. W. Ilawke advised that the question of Hood-gates for the Horseshoe outlet had been submitted to the Minister,for Public Works. The question of draining Travis's swamp was raised by Mr J. Peters, who pointed out that an area of considerably more than a thousand acres was involved, and that over twenty farmers were affected. The meeting was of the opinion that the matter waa an important one, and decided to receive a deputation of residents at its next meeting. It was pointed out that the work of tar-sealing New Brighton road from Craddock's corner to Button's corner had been left in abeyance until the spring, when condition* would be mnch more favourable. Mr Burnett reported that part of the footpath on the eas>t side from Bampton*s road to Craddock's corner had subsided, ar.d required attention. It was agreed to report the matter to the Council.
