STREET TRAFFIC.
THE MAYOR'S VIEWS
SOME OF IT TOO SLOW.
Asked yesterday f or his views on the control of street traffic, and especially t!i*: demonstration 0 f the four-dome system at intersections, which he had seen, the Mayor (.Mr J. K. Archer) said a great number of the motor-cars travelled too y'owly. "1 can't s-jo anything in the fc-ur-dorr.ti system. • said Mr Archer. • 'lt tends to speeding, instead of lesseidng the temptation for motorists who travel at too fast a pace. What do ,vo want four domes for - One is enough for anybody. They lead to .-■onfnsioii rather than the opposite. It i= my personal opinion that suc-h a svs;om would only increase the dangers. I* think that if motor drivers would really learn to drive, they would not require so much assistance. - ' The Mayor remarked that it was a curious thing that while some drivers ouaht to be made to slow down, there we're others who should be made to get a, more on. The driver who travelled too slowly was in everybody's way, and it seemed sometimes that he was the Idceest- nuisance on the street.
