♦— — Jumble Sale. A. jumble sale will be held in the Salvation Army Hall to-day, when clothing and homemade goods will be on sale. Golf. The first round of the junior championship of the Lyttelton Golf Clnb will be played at Charteris Bay on Sunday. Harbour Light Theatre. "Telling the World," featuring William Haines, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night, together with two comedies, an Oswald cartoon, news, and a N.Z. scenic. To-morrow, an attractive double feature programme will be screened. The two feature pictures are "The Charlatan," starring Marguerite Livingstone and Roekliffe Fellowes. and "The Psysician," a British production featuring lan Hunter. Lodge Meeting. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal City of Norwich Lodge was held on Tuesday, N.G. Bro. W. T. Bradley presiding. Two new members were initiated. Sick pay amounting to £24 Is Sd, and one funeral claim, were passed for payment. Prov. C.S. Bro. W. T. Foster reported on the recent visit to Loyal Waiwera Lodge, Little River. A card match, married v. single, was afterwards held, and supper was served. Y.W.C.A. Thero was a large and representative gathering ■ at the Y.W.C.A. room last evening to meet Mise Ethel Law, general secretary for New Zealand, who has recently returned from the world's conference of the Y W.C.A. as Budapest. The Mayor (Mr W. T. Foster) presided and weloomed Miss Law Miss Law gave an outline of the work of the conference. She mentioned that 42 countries were represented, including countries so wide apart as Korea, Iceland, China, Mexico, Egypt; and Japan The language difficulty was surmounted with the help of linguists, one of whom could speak seven languages, and on whom they largely relied for translation. English was used mostly, although French and German were also official languages for the conference. Miss La>w mentioned that she was chairwoman of one committee of SO, representing 18 different languages. At the conclusion of her address, Miss Law was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, moved by Mrs F. E. Sutton, and seconded b- Mr F G. Norton. Miss Law introduced Miss Bowbyes, who has been appointed permanent secretary of the Lyttelton branch, the branch having been without a secretary for some months. ' Musical and elocutionary items were given and supper was served.
