CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY E. GROOME. (PSESB 4SSOCIATIOK TXt-KOtUM.) NAPIER, July 11. The New Zealand Clav Bird Championship, shot at Longlatidß, Hastings, to-day, was won by E. Groome, ot Otane, president-elect of the New Zealand Gun Clubs Association. The winner was the only one of 62 competitors, who included eleven ex-champions to break the full number of 21 b, «»- Seven others, however, secured 20 kills. Groome takes £6O and a. ten gu«** taedal. G W. Beard (Kimbolwn) B. D. ilcLachlan (Masterton), A. h wTier iTChr istchnr«*h). H. fLyttelton),'J. Mills (Hastings), T. Harrison (Lower Hutt), and A. Ouarteruiain (Hamilton) divided B«*«id money, £4O, and Beard won the shoots off for the runner-up trophy. \ 20s nine-bird sweepstake was rided bv J. Orrnond. 11. Arnst G. « - Beard. J. Donnelly. I. G. W-atkins. G. A. McCalloch, H. E. Knight, I. A Cripps, R. Anderson, D. Fraser, ana W. McCnlloch. all of whom secured the possible. In this event, Hammond afid Turner (Christchnrch) presented a special trophy, for which extra entrance fees (amounting to 10 guineas) were t-harged. and will be handed to the E'irthouake Relief Fond. Anderson took the trophy after shooting to 21 birds, ,
