AMUR!. At the monthly nwitttg of the Amuri County Council, there »ere present: Ors. M. Bethell (chairman), H. R. Davieon, 3. 3. Duncan, K. Pettigrew, B. Mercer, W. Mminer Atkfnsott, Q. O. Sothiftoid, ana it. Li. J ameson. The chairman reported that the Water-race Committee had met the Cizlverden School Com mitt 00 and agreed to allow water to be taken' for the purpose of swimming baths from the race running through Mr L. E. Daizeii'b property on condition that the taking of the water did not cause any shortage to farmers south of the intake. On the recommendation of the O&flUnlttee set up to go into the matter of a sledge track to Mr Iverach's property, it was agreed tliat the foreman and men be put on to do up the track and bridge. Cr. Meroer reported that he thought there was not enough money on the estimates to allow the Bourne Stream bridge to be built and recommended that the matter be held over until money is available. It was decided to put in a culvert asax Mr E. ■ Roberts's entrance gate. The Hon. Mr Forbes wrote advising that he was (retting into touch with the Minister for Education in connexion with the matter of a new boys* hostel to accommodate country pupils attending the Rangiora High School The Cheviot County Council wrote asking that the Council apply for a warrant Cancelling its share of the maintenance costs of the Hurunui bridge on the Waipara-Kaikirura via Culverden roid. It was decided to apply to the GoVernorGeneral tor a warrant altering the allocation bv transferring the Cheviot County Council's share to that of the Awari County. It was agreed to give ths Health Department permission to erect seats on the roadside at Hanmer Springs. it wu decided to call tsudets fct • tiptrucks separate prices to be given for hydraulic and hand tips. „. Tenders were received for ths metalling of Jameson's and Leach's roads, and it was agreed to accept those of Messrs Adlington and Stevenson. _ At a special meeting of the Council, a resolution deleting Californian thistle from the schedule of noxious weeds was passed, and wi'l be submitted for confirmation at the next meeting.
