"TWO LOVERS"
FAMOUS PICTURE FOB THE CIVIC "A picture that will take its place among the greatest in screen history," is the unanimous opinion of "Two Lovers" by the world's leading reviewer*, la the long list of achievements by Director Fred Niblo, "Ben Hur" and "Two Lovers" are unquestionably his greatest. "Two Lovers" hat. the di»tinction of breaking all records for any one week at the Prince Edward Theatre, Sydney, daring last year. It has been produced on a lavish scale. The settings are a series of gorgeous, costumed etchings and colourful pageantry. It is also notable because it is the last picture in which the famou* screen lovers Viima Banky and Ronald Colman appear together. When the United Artists decided to separate the famous artists a prize of £SOO was offered in an international competition for the best story suggested for their final picture. Over 40,000 suggestions were received from all parts of the world, and the prize was awarded to the One who suggested B*rones* Orczy's novel "Leatherface, 1 ' which was an international best seller fifteen years ago. "Leatherface" was renamed "Two Lovers," and adapted to the screen. Vilnw Banky and Ronald Colman achieve their greatest climax in "Two Lovers," their final picture. Its glamour, intrigue, suspense, magnificent splendour, and breath-taking paee have drawn thousands m the Dominion to see it. The story tell* of the secret adventures of Mark Van Ryeke, as the mysterious "Leatherface," to aid William, Prince of Orange, who seeks to lead the enslaved country of Flanders to freedom from the oppression of the Spaniards. Vilma Banky, as Lenora, has never appeared so exquisite and charming. In addition, a fine supporting programme is being arranged, including items by the De Luxe Orchestra, The picture starts on Monday.
