LANCASTER PARK.

MEETING OF BOARD OF CONTROL. A meeting of the Board of Control of Lancaster Park, held last evening, was attended by Messrs A. E. McPhail (chairman), W C. Flewellyn, J. K. Moloney, C. S. McQully, W. Simpson, C. S. Thompson, W., L. King, W. H. Winsor, and H. Wauehop. Mr Winsor was appointed the Board's representative. at the official opening of the new Rugby grounds at. Innes road on July 26th. Mr Flewellyn was appointed to represent the Board at the official dinner in connexion with the jubilee celebrations of the Canterbury Riigbv Union.

The Christcburch Teachers' Training College was granted the use of the park on July 31st for the annual match against the Dnnedin Training College. The Canterbury Hockey Association was granted the use of the park on August 3rd for the match against the Australian hockey team. A sub-committee, consisting or Messrs MeCully and Winsor, was authorised to spend up to £SO on the work of terracing the embankment. The financial statement showed Receipts from football, £1722 6s 9d; payments to Rugby Union, £l3lß lis 9d; credit balance, £568 6e 7d. Offer of Clock Declined. A letter from Carr and Halley, Ltd., who offered to install a timing clock at the park, subject to certain conditions, was referred to the Board by the Canterbury Rugby Union, who signified its approval of the proposal. A condition was that an advertisement for the make of clock appear above the clock. Mr Simpson moved that the Board should not accept the offer. He said that all advertising had been debarred from the park in the past, even to the extent of excluding sandwichmen. The motion was carried. Mr Moloney moved that only advertisements dealing with sports or exhibitions at the park be permitted. An amendment, moved by Mr Thompson, that the matter be referred to a sub-committee consisting of the chairman. the secretary, and Mr Moloney for consideration, and to report to the next meeting, was carried.
