TRADE COMMISSIONER.
MR L. A. PAISH TO SUCCEED MR BEALE. (PEES 3 ASSOCIATION TKLEGStII.) WELLINGTON, July 10. Telegraphic advice has been received in Wellington of the appointment by the British Board of Trade of Mr L. A. Paish as his Majesty's Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, in succession to Mr L. B. Beale. Mr laish is expected to sail for New Zealand on July 26th. The new Trade Coi-imißsioner is, states Mr Lambie (Depaty-Trade Commissioner), a man of outstanding ability and strong personality, with a profound knowledge both of industrial conditions in Britain, and of Empire economies. After a successful career in the Patent Office in London, Mr Pai"h joined in 1914 the staff of the Department of Overseas Trade, and rapidly distinguished himself by his keen judgment, energy, and initiative. He has been for some years an assistant director in charge of the trades division of the Department, and in that position has been in intimate touch with the leading manufacturers and trade associations in Britain. He will undoubtedly prove a worthv successor to Mr BeaTe and the other Trade Commissioners who have done so much good work for British trade in New Zealand.
