BOY SCOUTS.
MAJOR FURBY APPOINTED DISTRICT COMMISSIONER. Major W. E. S. Furby, V.D., J.P., general secretary of the Boy Scouts Association, has been appointed Christchurch District Commissioner in place of Major R. F. W. Ashworth, resigned. For some weeks past Major Furby has been acting-commissioner and has been busily engaged meeting the various troop committees in the district. He has been appointed now to the position under warrant issued by the Honorary Dominion Chief Commissioner. Brigadier-General A. W. Andrew, C.M.G. General Andrew told a representative of The Press yesterday that Major Furby would hold the office of district commissioner with full power until his successor is appointed.
