A big I sea was raised in the harbour, and launches experienced a rough time. | Several gates were blown down and a I chimney-pot was blown from the Seamen's InIlitute on to Norwich quay. Considerable damage wsb done to an o:I tank in course of erection on the reclaimed . land for the Tesas Oil Company. The tank. ! which is 43 feet hirth. was- badly buck.ed | on the weather side. The heavy steel plating j was bent in by the force of the wind, which j at times blew in terrific squalls. The cost ; of the damage will be considerable. j Thanksgiving Services. | A thanksgiving service for the I covery from illnes3 was held at the Salvation Army Hall yesterday. The Mayor (Mr W. T. Foster) presided. There was attendance, and a collection was made in aid of the Ilarthquake Relief Fund. Thank.-givinj services were held at St. Saviour's yesterday, and were conducted by the vicar, "the Rev". T. M. Cumow. _ All the services were well attended, and retiring collections were made for the Earthquake Relief Fund. At Holy Trinity yesterday services _ of thanksgiving were conducted by the vicar, the R.er. A. C. PuTchas. Special hymns and anthems were sunt?. Lyttelton Gnn Club. The Lyttelton Gun Club held a £3O sparrow ditch on the Christchurch Gun Club ground at Sockburn on Saturday. The weather was bad and made visibility poor. There were a good many visitors from surrounding clubs, and some fine shooting wag witnessed. Good shooting was done by E. Hammond, W. Whitford, and A,
