Mr and Mrs Hugh Webb (Assam, India), who are spending their furlough in Xew Zealand, have arrived from the south and are staying at "Khandallah," Papanui road. Miss Mary McQuilkin, of Ashburton, is a guest at Warner's Hotel. News has been received from England that Miss Marjorie Seabrook will join the staff of St. Margaret's College, Christchurch, in September. Miss Seabrook was for three -<-ears at the Bedford Training College for Teaehers and holds the higher certificate of the National Froe' :I "Union. She will be in charge of the Kinderg: ten and Preparatory Department at the College. Misa Seabrook is an experienced teacher and will be prepared to train students.

Miss Puflett, infant mistress of the Kaiti (Gisborne) .School, who has been transferred to Temuka, - met by members of the school staff on Thursday and prcjented with two volumes of Milne's poems. In making the presentation, the headmaster, Mr W. Renton, eulogised Miss Puflett's worl. while at the Kaiti School, and congratulated her on her promotion. The engagement is announced of Grace Lilian, youngest daughter of Mrs E. Henwood, Euston street, Riccarton, to John Henry, youngest son of Mrs F. McCormick, Armagh street, Linwood. The president and Dance Committee of the Girls' High School Old Girls' Association have issued invitations for their annual dance to be held in the Winter Garden on Wednesday, July 24th.
