( irIE Special Committee appointed by the L Christehnrch City Council to analyse the position relating to Unemployment cndi that there are more men cut of employment this year than last, and earn&stiy appear to the public for subscriptions to provide work with a view to relieving the distress amongst the women and children. Donations may be earmarked for any special project, such as Road Improvements, the Boulevard, or other City Improvements. The Government ha« premised the *um of £25,000 provided the City finds a similar amount. Every pound subscribed by 'he citizens will be subsidised by a similar amount from the Council, and will also earn a farther subsidy from the Government. The Council's contributions will be further subsidised by the Government on the actual amount of wages paid. Citizens are assured that » fair day's work will be insisted upon. The- Committee trusts that its appeal will receive the hearty support of the citizens, and thus help in the noble work of relieving distress.
