THE EMDEN.

GOVERNMENT'S PART IN WELCOME. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TMXGBAM.) WELLINGTON, June 12. According to an announcement by the Prime Minister to-day, a Minister of the Crown will be present in Auckland on June 26th to exchange with the captain of the German warship Emden on its arrival courtesy calls on behalf of the Government, Sir Joseph Ward pointed out that the captain of the Emden would call on him and his colleagues in Wellington, but as the warship's first port of call would be Auckland, it was desirable that the Government should be directly represented in the initial courtesy call. He had made arrangements also for the extension of invitations to the captain, and as many officers as could be spared and cadets, to visit Rotorua, and for the officers who could not go to visit Waitomo.
