T TUden contested the first round of the men's singles, the first round of the mixed doubles, and the first round of the men s doubles without a break. He won. the entire eight sets, without losing a game, m 90 minutes. —Australian Press Association, United Service. CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. At a meeting of the Match Committee of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, the secretary reported that the unbeaten teams in the junior B inter-club competition, which concluded on Saturday last, were as follows: Section A, ATonside No. 1; section B, Lmwood No. 1. It was resolved that the playon* between these two teams should take place at Wilding Park next Saturday. The question of arranging a tournament for players under 25 years of age engaged m the junior B inter-club competition was left in the hands of the secretary. The secretary gave particulars of a personal communication he had received from Mr Geo. Gore, from South Africa, regarding negotiations for a visit of a South African team to the Dominion. " Tha committee considered the rules governing the Canterbury ranking lists, and with certain amendments these were approved and recommend to the Association for adoption. The matter of framing rules to govern the doubles ranking list, which it has been decided to institute next season, was left over ■until a future meeting. It was resolved that a meeting of the special delegates appointed to confer with the Match Committee regarding the appointment of a professional tennis coach be hied on Thursday, 20th instant. _
