RANGIORA FIRE BRIGADE.

ANNUAL MEETING. The fifty-fiith annual meeting of the Bangiora Volunteer Fire Brigade waa held in the Borough Council Chambers last night. Besides a iull muster of firemen, the Mayor (Mr C. S. Ayera) and Mayoress, Borough Councillors, and some of the honorary members or the Brigade were present. Superintendent C. W. Tyler presided. The committee in its report noted that during the year the Brigade lost' four members, Jj'ireaien E. Howe, W. Butters, and F. iT. Jackson, and their mucit-esteeiued exSupanntendent, Mr James Smith, by death; the now on the roll being -3 including three life members Only three members were eligible to receive long service honours foi the year. The brigade waa called out lor three fires during the year, one at a house which waa-destroyed,, one on Messrs Hargreavea and Harper's premiaea, and the other a grass fire. Thanks were accorded to the following for donations : —Messrs Keir and Thompson £2,' JN'ew Zealand Farmers' Co-op. Association £2 2s, Parrott and Co', £l, Union Bank £l, and M J. S. Cook 10s; also to the members of. the Borough Council for their kind consideration. of any requests made, to the honorary members, for financial assistance,-and to the ladies and the Preas. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been JBB2 15s, including a credit balance of £lB 163 4d from the previous year, and the expenditure £56 4s 9d, leaving a credit balance of £26 11a Id. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follows: —Senior foreman, P. H. Prestney; junior foreman, P. J. Coates; aenior branchman, C. ~L. Preatney; second branchman, Tho3. Thompson; ateamer branchmen, G. Greig and P. H. Watkins; assistant engineer, E. Ellis; committee. A. Prestney, T. Thompson, C. Presto nev, G. Greig, P. Prestney, and P. J. Coates; auditors No. 1 account, Messrs C. I Jennings and D. B. Blake; No. 2 account, Messrs A. Prestney and W. J. Ford The Mayoress presented the following longservice decorations:—Two years' additional gold bar to Engineer J. Skilkng (complettne 29 years), two years silver bars to loreman P. H. Prestney (23 years) and Fireman P. H. Watkins (19 years). It was decided to support the application of the Whangsrei Brigade for the next conference tc be held there. The offer of Mr and Mrs D. Kodgers of the Junction Hotel to present two trophies for competition amongst the Brigade members was accepted. The offer of Mr C. J. Keir to present * trophy was also accepted. After the general business was concluded an adjournmeut was made to the Fire Bneade Station, where the members of the Borousb Council and honorary members were the truest* of the Fire Brigade at supper. Loy*l and other toasts were honoured and a very pleasant hour was spent.
