SHIPPING NOTES. The port was very busy yesterday, there being several overseas and a number of coastal steamers working. With a number of free labourers employed there was sufficient labour offering, although the collier Canopus was short of experienced winch and bull-rope men. There was some delay in the morning owing to trucks not coming to band fast enough, and to ease the demand some of th« ships did not work overtime last night. With the departure of the Tamaroa, Matakana, and Port Campbell today the position should become much easier. The ferry steamer Maori, which is under overhaul, is to dock to-day. The Norfolk should arrive here on Thursday to load. The Kuapehu is expected about Fridav from Port Chalmers with cargo from London for discharge. The Kahika is timed lo load here on Tuesday nest for Napier and Gisborne. The oil tanker Gold Shell is due to arrive at Lyttelton on June 3rd from San Francisco. The Baron Maclay, with sulphur from Galveston, is due at Lyttelton from Wellington on May 3let. s The Shaw. The Kaitungata is now due ou Sunday front Po'tland aDd 'Wellington. The Karelu should arrive at I.ytteltcn on May .'list from Newcastle .and Sjdney. She proceeds to Timarn, Dunedin, and Bluff. The Breeze is due here tomorrow from Timaru to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Manuka, is expected to-morrow- from Melbourne and Wellington. She is to sa.il in the afternoon for Dunedin and Bluff, ea route for Melbourne. The John is timed to load at this port on Saturday for Wellington, Wanganui, and New Plymouth. The Storm should arrive on Saturday next from the south to take in cargo for Wellington, Piclon, and Wanganui. The Wingatui is cspe<;ted from Auckland and Wellington to-morrow, and is to sail in the afternoon for Duuedin, Oamarn. and Timaru. She .is duo hack on Tuesday next to load for Auckland. The Shaw-Savill liner Tamaroa is to sail to-day for Napier, to continue loading. Her Lyttelton cargo included a farrly large consignment of apples from Loburn. Mr A. Jackson has relieved" Mr A. R. Pryde as mate of the Cygnet, the latter being granted holiday leave. The Kent, en route from Liverpool, reports by radio that she expects to arrive at Auckland to-morrow afternoon. She is due at Wellington on May 29tli. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Piako will-now make Gisborne her final loading port. The vessel left Oaroafu at 11 o'clock ort Friday night for Timsru. Bluff. Wellington, and Gisborne. .She w : ill fail froth Gisborne on June Ist for London, via Panama, and Newport News. ■ The Kotoma arrived at Tokomstu Bay on Friday - at noon from Auckland. but owing to bad weather was unable to -load,, and put to sea. The vessel will now not load at Gisborno. but is expected, to clear Tokomaru Bay today for Lyttelton and Wellington. Bad weather off the coast continued to prevent the Port Victor loading in the Oifibome roadstead on Friday. She will leavo there to-dav for Lyttelton. Picton, and Wellington. The Port Victor is now expected at Wellington on May 28th, and will sail from there on May 29th for London, via Montevideo. The A. and A. Line chartered steamer Benholm. which arrived at Wellington on Friday from New York, via Auckland, had an exceedingly rough trip down the coast. V southerlv gale and high seas delayed the ebip about 18 hours. The Benholm will leave Wellington to-morrow for Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge. The following passengers for New Zealand were travelling by the P. and O. liner Moollan, which was due at Sydney from London on Thursday:—Booked to Auckland per Maunganui: Mr and Mrs and'two children, Mr r k ose. News has been received by the Union Company that the Waitemata arrived at Vancouver at 5 p.m. on Wednesday The vessel loads at New Westminster and Ocean Falls. Clearing the latter port on May 2otn tor San Francisco and Los Angeles, to com"ate loading for Auckland Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. She is to clear Los Angeles on June 4th, and is due at Auckland on June 29th.
