HOCKEY.

CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening, Mr It. li. Smith presiding. The Otago Association forwarded invitations for senior and primary schools' teams to play at Dunedin at some date to be arranged. The letter also stated that the southern Association would endeavour to send a junior representative team to Christchurch this season. It was decided to refer the matter of sending a senior team to the senior selector, and to hold over the visit of a primary schools' team for consideration at a later date. The suggestion for a junior representative match at .Christchurch met with approval, and it was decided to reply accepting the match and to ask for a suitable date.

' The 'Varsity Club wrote intimating that the New .Zealand 'Varsity hockey tournament would be held on May 31st and June Ist, and asked for the use of a ground on those dates. The club also asked that | referees be supplied for the matches on those dates. The 'Varsity Club also advised that on account of the tournament the senior team would be compelled to default on June Ist. The question of supplying referees was referred to the Referees' Association. It was decided to ask the Referees' Association to nominate referees to officiate at the representative match against the New Zealand University team on June 3rd. The Ladies' Association was granted the use of six grounds in Hagley Park for June 3rd, on the usual conditions. The 'Varsity Club forwarded an explanation regarding the non-registration of a senior player, and the mntter vas held over till next meeting. The Wellington Association suggesting June 29th for the representative shield fixture at TVellinston, and the matter ■was referred to the selector •with' power to accept if suitable. The South Canterbury Association's request for a match at Timaru on June 3rd was he!d over tiil later in the season. The Technical College Old Boys' Club ■wrote withdrawing their fifth grade B team. Permission to withdraw was granted. The Judiciary Committee's action in suspending a Rangiora junior player for discourtesy to the referee for one playing Saturday was approved. It was decided to hold the nest meeting on June 4th on account of the June 3rd holiday.
