SIR HARRY LAUDER.

CHRISTCHURCH SEASON. Only a few more days and t>ir Harry Lauder and his new company will be with us, and there is an air of great expectancy of this important theatrical event, as it is as welcome as it is unexpected, and everybody is waiting and wondering what is to be Sir Harry's budget of entirely new sketch and story. lie has, we understand, a budget of new offerings with which he achieved unprecedented success during his last London season just prior, to his departure for the Dominion; the London Press was unanimous in effect that Sir Harry was even a great favourite than ever, as proven by the reception accorded him at every performance, and that he never occupied the stage for less than- an hour, surely a great tribute to an ■ entertainer from London audiences. Included in his song numbers are "When 1 Meet Mackay," "I've Just Got Off the Chain,"-and ""VJlower o* the Heather," the latter a delightfully melodious love song, and the other two quaint character conceits which are said to be sure* laughter raisers. The old song favourites will not be forgotten altogether:. they are expected, and even demanded, and the management state that hundreds of requests have been' received for Sir Harry's earlier successes. It is accepted that whatever Mr E. J. Carroll'does he does well, and gives his public the very best, and this can safely be applied to the company selected to support Sir Harry on this tour. All the artists and actsjare of high international repute, and include "Tiki" Carpenter, the surprise packet, direct from London, «nd presenting a m<*st unusual turn; Miss Beryl AVentworth. in cuts and catchy chorus »ongs; Rupert Haiel and L'lsie Day, the harmonylarity duo in a hichly diverting inter Hide; as comedy acrobatic violinists, the Fredo Bros, have won feme throughout the world; » Continental cartoonist and lighting sketch artist, Don Julian presents en exceptionally clever act. A fine orchestra, under the conduetorship of Haydn Beck, adds lustre to I this great entertainment.
