OAMARU T.C.

A SUCCESSFUL MEETING. WRACKLER WINS BIG RACE. The Oamaru Trotting Club's Winter fixture, held on Saturday, was one of the most successful from a financial point of view and one of the most enjoyable ever held in the district. The weather was delightfully fine, and though it meant leaving their homes in the small hours trotting enthusiasts patronised in strong force the special trains that were run from Dunedin and Christchurch. The track was in very good order and as atmospheric conditions were suitable, it was not surprising to find several of the placed horses improving considerably on their handicap times. The management of the Meeting left nothing to be desired, the popular president, Mr M. ,1. Harmon, attending to the wants of visitors, while Mr J. D. Forbes scored a distinct success in his handling of the arrangements. It was' a truly sporting fixture and Mr H. A. Jarden, the club's handicapper, had good reason to be pleased with his work, for the racing all through was. excellent, and a number of finishes were so close that only the judge could correctly place the horses. With a good increase in the gate takings and the totalisator business showing £22.438, as against £21,079 last year the club can be said to have had a most successful Meeting. Details of the racing are as follows :
