LEWIS PASS.
PARTY TO GO TO REBFTON. It has been decided that the party which is to go over the route of the proposed highway between Canterbury and the West Coast, via the Lewis Pass, will motor on to Reefton, where the night will be spent. The trip is to be made this week-end, and it is possible that a public meeting will be held in Reefton on Saturday night. Cars for the journey from, the Maruia Springs to Reefton are being provided "by the Inanaghua County Council. Mr F. W. Furkert, Engineer»inChief, Public Works Department, has written to Mr P. R. Climie, secretary of the Progress League, stating that owing to the movements of the Minister for Public Works, he will not be able to accompany the party. Mr Furkert has arranged for Mr Baker, Inspecting Engineer of the Public Works Department, to go in his stead.
