SOUTHLAND. (SPECIAL TO THE PBB8S.) INVBRCARPIIjL. May 17. Oats —There is not much change to report in this market. Local prices are higher than those further north, and consequently Invercargill merchants are out of the competition with regard to shipment. A grade have been in demand and 3s per bushel has been paid for A's for milling and seed purposes, while up to 8s 2d per bushel has been paid for heavy samples. These are considerably above the equivalent of the current f.0.b., s.i., value, which is about 3s 6d per bushel. B grades are worth considerably less, the on truck value being 2s 6d per bushel, but .even this is very fnll value as compared with the i.o.ft., s.i., price, which is from 8s 3d to 3s 2Jd per bushel. Good Duns are in demand, and up to 3s 2d per bushel on trucks, country stations, is being paid. Wheat —Occasional lines are offering, good milling Tuscan being worth 5s lOd per bushel on trucks, while Velvet is worth up to 6d per bushel more. Chaff —Offerings of new season s dhaff j are being made, but in most cases the I quality is not so good as last year *• «>« ( straw in most cases being slightly discoloured. Good bright lines of new season s chaff are worth £4 5s per ton on tracks, country stations. _ Ryegrass —This market is still firm. Merchants' stocks are very light and there is little more in hand than is required for the local seed trade. Offerings from farmers have practically ceased. Values to farmers a?e nominally from 3s 6d to 4s 8d per hnshel Onlv occasional samples of extra nnality seed, however, are commanding the ?atter price. Italian is in demand at from 3s to 3s 2d per bushel on trucks, country "^Potatoes—These are now offering fairly freely? and digging of the mam crop « beinj earried out whenever the weather is suitable. There appears tobe a good deal of blight in certain localities, and this has affected the qnality of some samples. The rslue to farmers runs from £4 5s to SA log T>er ton. according to quality and variety. King Edwards are most m demand at the present time. THE BRADFORD MARKET. (raiTED PRESS ASSOCIATION— BT ELECTRIC telegraph—copyright.) LONDON. May 16. On the Bradford market, business Uni. Topmakers are still offering 5 *ixties. Quotations are: Sixty-fours, 39d; fifty-sixes, 32d; fifties, 27d; forty-sues, , 23d; forties, 224. „ttrreA At the rabbitskin sales 2200 were offere« and 820 sold. These generally averagea o per cent, below March rates. Competition for furriers' sorts was very weak, bat was rather better for hatters'. —Australian rre* Association.
