NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION.

THE ANNUAL DINNER. (mOM OT7S OWJI CORRESPONDENT.) LONDON, April 5. Sir Basil Blaekett has accepted the invitation to be chief guest at the New Zealand Association's annual dinner at the Savoy Hotel on April 15. Sir Basil is a director of the Bank of England and the chairman of the Communications Company, the organisation which has lately amalgamated the interests of the cables and wireless. The New Zealand Government's desire to have an up-to-date wireless service with the Homeland may have some bearing on the presence of Sir Basil Blaekett as chief guest. Another, distinguished guest will be the Rt. Hon. Montague Norman, P. 0., D.S.O. As Governor of the Bank of England he is prevented ftom appearing often at public dinners, but his interest in New Zealand has caused him on this occasion to streteh a point. He will not be called upon to speak, however. New Zealand dinners in the past have been noted for long and numerous speeches. On the present occasion it is intended to reform matters. There will be one toast —"Our Guests" —proposed by the High Commissioner, to which Sir Basil Blaekett will" reply. After that the High Commissioner will lead the party out of the - dining rooms to the reception rooms, where the guests may . move. .freely among their friends. On May 30th all the reception rooms of the Savoy Hotel will be at the disposal of the New Zealand Association for their annual reception and dance. Beside the ballroom, the white room, the Abraham Lincoln room, the green room, and the pink room, will be in use. Dancing will begin at 9.30 and continue until 2.30. As May 30th happens to be Election Day, arrangements will be made to post up the results of the polls as they are announced from headquarters.
