♦— — MIX OR OFFENCES BY MOTORISTS IFHOII CIS MX CpaJJ®SPOK|ia:\T.; SYDNEY, May 9. What with heavy taxee and tolls, and the indignities' that are hesped upon them generally because of the doings of the comparatively f<jw motor ''hogs 1 ' who ought never tp be licensed, owners of ears in New South Wales are at last waking up to the necessity for organised action. If, for example, motorists have been charged with most minor breaches of the Traffic Act, as distinct from breaches involving public safety, they have been forced to line up in a queue in Court even when they wished to plead guilty. There has been wow than one outcry against this, by the Motorists' Association, and the loss of valuable time which the delay involved. It was felt that, where breaches of the Act were purely minor ones, and motorists were prepared to admit their guilt, the ends of justice would be fully met, and the congestion of the Traffic Court obviated, if, in cases, offenders were permitted to plead .guilty before some official, and to pay the flno through the post or b.v messenger. The ,'dea was to obviate the necessity fOi hanging about the Court, with, its loss of valuable time. _ The need for this rerorm styled motorists as a " Cash and Carry" Court—has been admitted by tne Government, which will introduce the new svstem in the Transport Bill next session. Motorist# admitting minor breaches will be notified pavablc in each case, without having to go" to Court, and will be deputy to settle the matter with a» ofr , cial and to wfsh ! the 68»e time, motoasts, w * 1 it may have recourse to the oramary , lega? channels.
