JUVENILE IMMIGRANTS.
REQUEST FOR REMOVAL OF RESTRICTION. (PRBSS ASSOCIATION TSLEG3AJI.) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 6. The lifting of the restriction on the immigration of English public school boys was asked of the Prime Minister by the Immigration Committee of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce. It was pointed out that the Chamber had settled 150 boys with remarkable success, and that the arrival of boys would not aggravate unemployment, as many farmers at present were unable to secure workers for their farms. Sir Joseph Ward pointed out that there was a cry throughout the Dominion for the relief of unemployment, and for this reason immigration had been restricted in the xneantim-?. He had not realised, however, thax the restriction had applied to schoolboys. He would have an enquiry made immediately and give the Chamber an early reply.
