AERO CLUB.
FIRST LADY PUPIL. Yesterday morning, Miw A. Clifford, the first lady member of the Canterbury Aero Club, began her training under Captain J. C. Mercer. In addition to Miss Clifford, and the three men who began on Thursday, three other new members began their training yesterday: Messrs R. P. S. Wilson, \V. .}. V. Hutchinson, and D. E. Greig. , Altogether, said Mr Mercer, the pupils put in about an hour and a half flying time, which took about three hours, from 0.15 to 12.15. Next week Captain Mercer expects, if the weather is suitable, to give instruction both in the morning and the afternoon. On an average, he said, it should take a pupil a month or six weeks to learn to fly, but it depended on the regularity of attendance at the aerodrome. The fee for the course, £SO, was computed on the calculation that the pupils would take 10 to 12 hours' firing time before they were proficient. 'The Clnb hangar is going up rapidly. A small coke-stove has been ordered, to which a water service will be attached so that the club will not lacK *hot water. Application will also o« made for a telephone. „.;„„. ; n Enthusiasm in the Club »s F°™*£ the last two days two "VSeir'iZ bers paid the first deposit of «£ jr J«5 and a considerable number of members have been enrolled. ,
