While many of our readers attended these realisations personally, and had the opportunity of seeing us in action, there are no doubt many others who were unable to attend the sales. JUST A FEW SUPER SALES OF LIVE AND DEAD STOCK. On account of MRS ELLIS, on February 26th, H. MATSON and 00. held quite a successful little sale at Templeton. A good clearance was effected at satisfactory prices. The principal sales were as follows of harness £2 ss, dray saddle and breeching £3 ss, bay gelding aged £9 10s, collar and hames £3, collar and hames £2 2s 6d, dray £2 2s 6d, mower £2 ss, dray and frame £l2, roller £lB, cultivator £4, 4-leaf harrows and trees £3 2s 6d, deuble-furrow plough £5.

H. MATSON and CO., on March 26th, conducted a large Clearing Sale of Live and Dead Steele at "Hadstoek," EUesmere, for the Kxeeutors of the ESTATE OF THE LATE WILLJAM CHAMBERLAIN. Being one of the oldest Estates still carried on in Canterbury, together with the fact that the live and dead stock included a good team of horses, pedigree Shorthorn eattle, 650 breeding ewes, and some e*eellent implement!, a large crowd turned up, and throughout competition wa» keen and everything was gold at satisfactory prices. The principal sales were as follows; SHEEP: 638 six and aight-tooth breeding ewes averaged Sis, 95 fat ewes 23s Bd, 85 aged ewes 235, 21 rape lambs 25s 3d, 1 twoshear Ryeland ram Signs, 5 S.St. B.L. rams 3igns. CATTLE; 14 Shorthorn cows to I7gn«, <?alve» to Signs, yearlings to ifligns, 14 steers £ls 2» 6d. HORSES; Bay §-yrold gelding £55, roan gelding 6 years £42, bay mare 8 years £4O, bay mare aged £34, bay gelding aged £3O, bay mare £26. Owing to the W»i taking over the property of MESSRS WRIGHT BROS., White's Bridge, Kaiapoi, H. MATSON and CO. were called in to conduct a Clearing Sale of all their Live and Dead Stock On March 28th. The principal features of this gala were the. draught horses and the cattle. Among these were some excellent exhibits, and the Urge gathering of farmers from all parts of Canterbury eagerly bid for all the stock. The principal sales were:—CATTLE: 26 milking cowg up to £l3, 28 heifers, S-year-olds, due in the spring, up to £l3 io», 14 raixed-ees calves 3gns, 18-steers £6 l»s 6d. SHEEP: 104 aged rape, ewes 13s 9d. PIGS: Large number of pigs at various prices. IMPLEMENTS: Double-furrow plough £9 10s, grass mower #6 10s, spring cart £B, drill £5, chain harow £5 15s, harrow £.5. 10s, 2 tip drays £l2 each, twitch harrow/ £8 ss, dray £lO, set discs £lB, S-furrow plough £32. In conjunction with Messrs Dalgety and Co., account MR O. A. HARE, Waipara, on April Bth, H. MATSON and CO. conducted an excellent Clearing Sale of all his Live and Bead Stock. As there are not many sales in this district, a tremendous crowd rolled up, and the whole sale went off with a good swing. The following are the principal sales:— SHEEP;' 168 four-tooth ewes 38s to 3Ss, 78 two-tooth ewes 375, 30 ewe hoggets 31s, 54 four and flve«year-old ewes 26s 3d; ranis at various prices. COWS; 5 cows ranging from £l3 to £3O, 6 heifers £8 to £lO 10s, 2 calves £5 ss, 3 young cattle £3 2s 6d, bull £6. HORSES: Aged mare, Bloss, £4O; mare, Bonny, £3O; gelding, Bill, £37; aged mare, Dolly, £lO. IMPLEMENTS: McC. drill £33, 3-f. plough £36, d.f. plough £lB, cultivator £2B, discs £lO, mower £l4, hay j rake £8 10s, chain harrows £6, 6-leaf harrows £7, 4-leaf harrows £6, dray and frame £lO 10b, waggon £3O, cart saddle and breeching £3 ss; also many sundries too numerous to mention. At "Pine Grove," Jrwell. oh behalf of MR ALEX DUFF, on April 15th. in conjunction with the N/.Z. Farmers' Co-op. Assn., H. MATSON and CO. conducted a splendid Clearing Sale of all Live and Dead Stock, ineluding a very fine herd of Shorthorn cattl*. It was admitted by those present that it was one of tha best sales held in this particular district, and the many attractive lots in the way of sheep, cattle, and implements attracted a large attendance, and a record sale was effected.

The following are the principal sales: — CATTLE: 3 regd. milking Shorthorns made £25, £25, and £2O; 26 other cows ranged from £7 10s to £l7. The herd of 29 averaged about £l3 lis a head. SHEEP: A pen of 139 ewes 35s 6d, 30 lambs 28s 3d, 60 two-tooth wethers 28s. HORSES: Draught geldings £34 to £3O, mare £4O, aged mare £lO, aged gelding £ll 10s. IMPLEMENTS: Fordson tractor £9O, hay sweeps £lO and £ls, stacker £29, drays £l6 10s and £l3, tip dray £l3 10s, grass mower £ls, binders £l9 and £ll, ploughs £3O and £l2, discs £l3, drill £27 10s, roller £l9 10s. The Clearing sale held by H. MATSON and CO. on April 16th, on account of MR 0WOLFE, Lincoln, although a small one, » representative gathering of farmers was present. All lots sold well, and a complete clearance was effected. The prices given below will not perhapß convey the excellence of the sale to those who were not present, but farmers who attended appreciated the excellent sales effected by the Auctioneer. Some of the principal sales were as follows:—Scalding tub £1 17s 6d, cultivator £l6, Cambridge roller £4 10s, double-furrow plough £l6, chain harrows £7, horse rake £B, 4-leaf harrows £3 10s, tip cart and frame £l3, farm dray and frame £ls, bag tares £2, Alfa-Laval separator £9 10s, Alfn-Laval churn £1 10s, 1 cow £l2 10s, 1 cow £7 10s, stack of hay £7, gelding £5, bay mare £2, bay gelding £6. On behalf of MR W. B. COOPER, Southidge, in conjunction with Mr D. T. Matson, H, MATSON and CO. on April 19th conducted a really good sale, which was classed by many present as the best sale ever held in the Southbrifcge district. The sale was most efficiently handled, and the whole of the live and dead stock and furniture, etc., was disposed of by 3 o'clock. Keen competition was the order of the day for all lots. The principal sales were as follows:— CATTLE: 4 dairy eows averaged £l4 15s, 2 Jersey heifer calves averaged £4 10s. SHEEP: 68 fat lambs 31s, 123 halfbred aged ewes 24ii 6d, 3 S.D. rams B|gna. HORSES: Bay gelding, 6yrs, £54; bay gelding, Byrs, £52; bay mare 6yrs, £54 10s; chestnut mare, 2yrs, £4O; brown mare, arad £4O.
