Replying to questions in the House of Commons, Sir Au3ten Chamberlain, Foreign Secretary, said he had no official information that the new Vatican State intended to apply for membership of the League of Nations, and it would be quite premature to state the attitude of the British Government to an event which was so absolutely hypothetical.
